The Host - Silliman University
Founded in 1901, Silliman University is the oldest American Protestant school in Asia. Located in Dumaguete City, it is the first university outside Metro Manila. It is a center of excellence and development in various disciplines like Nursing, Education, Coastal Resources Management and Environmental and Marine Science, Information Technology Education, and others.

The Venues
College of Computer Studies - Previously known as the College of Information Technology and Computer Sciences (CITCS), the College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Silliman University offers BS in Information Technology, BS in Computer Science and BS in Information Systems. To date, it continues to service the computer-related courses of the other Colleges in the university as well as offer short courses to the general public. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has granted the College the distinction as Center of Development (COD) in Information Technology Education from 2007 to 2010. Headed by the youngest dean of the university, Prof. Dave E. Marcial, the faculty and staff of this college are all members of different committees as host to this year’s PCSC.

The Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium of Silliman University is a venue for world class performances in music, dance, and drama.
This is the venue for the Registration and Opening Ceremonies on Day 1 of the PCSC ‘09 on the 2nd of March, 2009.

The Host City - Dumaguete
Dumaguete is a city in Oriental Negros, Region VII, replete in history and rich cultural heritage. One goes to a major landmark and gets to hear an interesting historical story about it. But the most important aspect of the city is its people – the product of an amalgam of cultures richly contributing to a kind famously known as the Gentle People.
Dumaguete is fast becoming the university hub of Central Visayas. The city boasts of four (4) major universities, nine (9) colleges, 20 private schools and 8 secondary public schools. It also has its own sufficient share of foreign students eager to enjoy quality and affordable education.
Weather
The Province basks outside the typhoon belt. Weather is generally fair most of the year.
Language
Bisaya is the most common vernacular. Tagalog and Hiligaynon prevalent. English is widely spoken.
Transportation
Daily Air Philippines and Cebu Pacific flights about an hour from Manila. Major passenger ships and fast ferries come regularly at the Dumaguete port. Nine smaller seaports accommodate more light crafts. Buses link the towns and cities, with exits north and south to neighboring Negros Occidental. Pedicab, taxicabs, and multicabs ply short distance routes.
